CLEARWATER, Fla. (FOX 13) - An Allegiant flight heading to Syracuse had to a do U-turn mid-flight this morning and return to St. Pete-Clearwater Airport. There was apparently a mechanical issue with the plane.
Flight 842 had taken off just after 7:30 this morning. It did land safely back at the airport.
One passenger told FOX 13 the pilot told them they’d lost steering in the front landing gear.
“It was definitely nerve-racking, for sure,” offered Zebediah Harris. “For my girlfriend, it was scary and terrifying for her -- she never really liked planes.”
There was no immediate response from Allegiant.
Passengers from that flight were scheduled to take off again early this afternoon.
