Orlando's Pulse attack remembered in Ybor City

- Nearly 50 people stood together Saturday in Ybor City's Centennial Park to mark nearly a year since the attack on the Pulse nightclub.

The group was organized by Out and Loud Florida, which held a ceremony from 5 p.m. to about 8 pm.The memorial included speakers, drag performances and songs. Attendees were also encouraged to write their feelings in letters that will be delivered to Pulse to become a part of the memorial there.

Organizers lit 49 candles for each one of the victims of the attack.Sierra Hill and her husband attended the memorial Saturday because Hill lost three friends in the nightclub.

"It's only a year so it's still real fresh and the emotions are still there. I just hope everyone starts showing more love than hate. That's the main thing by having these things. Show more love. Take the hate out," said Hill.

The group is planning another memorial in Centennial Park from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday, the anniversary of the tragedy.
