SARASOTA, Fla. (FOX 13) - Sarasota police responded to a raccoon stranded in the bay, but it wasn't an easy rescue.
Police say Mote Marine was responding to an injured turtle when rescuers noticed a raccoon stranded on a channel marker.
The marine patrol and Florida Fish and Wildlife officers responded and captured the little guy, but it leaped out of their net and into the water.
It tried to swim away, but it got too tired and climbed back onto the boat, where officers were able to snag it again with the net.
Officers put the raccoon in a cooler and released it safely back onto dry land.
