Sarasota deputies searching for owner of rabbit

- A pet rabbit spent Easter weekend without its owner.

Sarasota County deputies said they found the rabbit on Doud Street in Sarasota Friday morning. A photo of the animal was shared on the agency’s Facebook page, with the caption saying, “We’re hoppin with excitement this Easter weekend. Animal Services officers came across this big boy.”

The agency also advised people to “think twice before adopting a domestic rabbit to give kids this weekend for the holiday. Remember, pets aren’t short-term commitments.”

Anyone with information on the rabbit’s owner can contact Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office at (941) 861-5800.
