Hillsborough deputy involved in crash stable

The Hillsborough County deputy involved in a crash suffered non life-threatening injuries and was listed in stable condition Tuesday evening.

Florida Highway Patrol officers were investigating the crash that shut down Gibsonton Road  over I-75 for some time. 

Deputies said Hillsborough County Deputy Tim Berg was hit from behind on his motorcycle and dragged 150 feet by a utility truck. Deputy Berg was pinned underneath two trucks, deputies said.

He was extricated and airlifted to Tampa General Hospital with a possible broken ankle and several lacerations. 

Several other motorists were injured in the crash. There is no word yet on their conditions.

Deputy Berg, 37, is a 9-year veteran of the sheriff's department.
