Sarasota PD: No credible threat related to Snapchat message

- The Sarasota Police Department says it has investigated a concerning message on Snapchat, but does not believe there is any threat to students at Sarasota High School.

The snap was brought to teachers' attention Thursday, prompting officers to talk to the student who allegedly posted the message, which was perceived as threatening.

Police say they spoke with the student who sent the message and her parents. They do not believe there is any threat to students or school staff, but out of an abundance of caution, are placing additional officers at Sarasota High School Friday.

The Sarasota Police Department encourages anyone who sees or reads anything suspicious to notify their local law enforcement immediately.
