ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (FOX 13) - Police in St. Pete are investigating after a car crashed into a tree in the city's Old Northeast neighborhood, and they say two of the victims had suffered gunshot wounds. One later died.
Police identified 42-year-old Quentin Hicks as the man who was shot and killed. The other victim has serious injuries.
The scene of the crash was at 20th Avenue NE and 1st Street N. The view from SkyFOX showed a black convertible with airbags deployed next to the trunk of a large tree.
Reid Mouser lives in the neighborhood, he says he's never seen anything like this.
"This, it doesn't happen, I've never seen a shooting like that before, I mean people are out walking their dogs all time of day."
While some residents remained angered Wednesay evening, others were in shock.
"It makes me sad, it's not the right way that things should be going," Jenny Greer said.
Detectives believe the shooting occurred about four blocks away, in the 1700 block of Bay Street NE.
Video released by the police department shows a blue 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe pulling away from the BMW after shots were fired.
