St. Petersburg police searching for looter suspect

- St. Petersburg police are searching for a man who broke into a home after the owners evacuated for Hurricane Irma, they said.

Detectives said the suspect broke into a home in the 100 block of 17th Avenue South on September 10 around 6:45 a.m. He broke a window on the back door, entered the home, and began to rummage through drawers.

It’s possible he also broke into another home on the same property, police said. The unidentified man left the homes with several items including vehicle titles. Surveillance video shows him wandering around the home and rummaging through items.

St. Petersburg police asks anyone with information on the identity of the man to call the agency at 727-893-7780.
