Smoking and tobacco products have been banned from Steinbrenner Field, the New York Yankees announced Monday.

The team announced that all areas of the Tampa stadium will become smoke-free and tobacco-free, but there will be designated smoking areas outside the stadium, which is located across from Raymond James Stadium.

The policy goes into effect immediately, and is in place for all stadium events, including Yankees' spring training workouts and games, and all Tampa Tarpons games. The prohibited products include cigarettes, cigars, chewing tobacco, and e-cigarettes.

Last year, the Tampa Sports Authority banned smoking and tobacco products at Raymond James Stadium, citing the need to create a "healthier environment" for fans.
