Stolen vehicle crashes after TPD pursuit; 2 arrested

- Two people were arrested after Tampa police pursued a stolen vehicle before it crashed Friday night. 

The crash happened on Florida Avenue near South Street. 

Officers said two suspects minor injuries in the crash. A driver in another vehicle also suffered minor injuries. 

Police arrested the driver 20-year-old Jessie Stephenson. He has been charged with fleeing to elude, grand theft, driving without a valid license, resisting arrest, possession of a firearm and violation of probation.

One juvenile who was a passenger in that car was arrested for an active warrant. Another juvenile who was in the car was released to his parents.

Florida Ave. was closed in both directions for several hours while TECO replaced a power pole, but has since reopened.
