WINTER HAVEN, Fla. (FOX 13) - Residents in a small community said they have been trapped inside their neighborhood for several hours at a time due to stopped trains.
Several residents said the trains routinely stop on the tracks, at times blocking Pollard Road, which provides the only access to their neighborhood.
"I'd say it's a solid nine out of ten," said Brandon Blackburn, a resident, referring to his growing frustration.
According to Blackburn, last week a train stopped for about three hours. While that was perhaps the longest time they've had to wait, Blackburn said he and other drivers have been forced to wait anywhere from an hour to an hour and a half, several times a week over the past few months.
Blackburn said he's contact CSX at least 20 times to complain about the issue.
"Since it's a limited amount of people that live down this road they think it's absolutely nothing," said Blackburn.
In a statement, CSX said they "are currently completing infrastructure improvements," which led them to adjust train schedules. According to CSX, they are sorry for the inconvenience they've caused to residents and expect the delays to clear up by the end of the week.

“CSX strives to be a good neighbor in communities where we operate, and we work hard to minimize the impact of our operations. We are currently completing infrastructure improvements to our track, which necessitate a temporary adjustment to previous train schedules. CSX apologizes to residents for any inconvenience stopped trains may have caused as we complete these repairs, which are critical to the safe and efficient movement of freight. We expect to resume normal train schedules by the end of the week.”
