THONOTOSASSA (FOX 13) - Surveillance video gives a play-by-play of the scariest moments of Cheryl Reese's life.
"I was in the back of the store and I heard my boss screaming. I come around through the front and there was a gun to her head and she was at the register," the Family Dollar clerk said Wednesday.
Cheryl and her manager were manning the Williams Road store in Thonotosassa Saturday night when two men, one of them armed with a semi-automatic firearm, stormed in.
Both of the women were ordered behind the store's front counter. Cheryl was ordered to open the cash register, as the two suspects cleared the back wall of cigarettes.
"I was taking a little time because I was scared and I couldn't punch my numbers in right," she said.
Surveillance video shows Cheryl's manager attempt to fight back as one of the two men was crouched down in a comprising position. She kicked the man with all her might and later slapped him across the face.
"I thought for sure she was a goner and I was next," Cheryl said.
The suspect is seen shoving his gun at her neck. Cheryl says once the men cleared out the register, she was ordered to the floor as her colleague was taken to a separate area.
"He pushed me to the floor then and told me if I moved or got up he'd kill me," she said.
Two-and-a-half minutes after they first barged in, the robbers were gone. The memory of the harrowing ordeal still haunts both women.
"It's petrifying. Every time the door opens I keep seeing a replay. I'm expecting the guys to come back," Cheryl said.
Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is investigating the robbery. If you have any information about the crime, you're asked to give them a call or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-TIPS.
