Surveillance video shows porch pirate suspect steals elf statue from South Tampa home

- Tampa police are searching for a porch pirate suspect who stole a Christmas elf statue.

The theft took place on November 28 at a South Tampa home, and police said the crime was captured on home surveillance video, which the agency released Monday. The suspect appears to be a teenager or young man wearing a hoodie.

The suspect is seen walking onto the porch, which is decorated with Christmas lights and other festive designs, including a Christmas elf. Police said he walks “softly” to avoid making any noise, and grabs the decorative elf statue and walks away from the home.

Anyone with information on the suspect’s identify can call Crime Stoppers of Tampa Bay at 1-800-873-8477 or online at www.crimestopperstb.com.
