Suspect allegedly assaults deputies, calls 911

Deputies responded to a complaint about a house party early Sunday in Winter Haven only to be greeted at the door with a semi-automatic pistol, according to the Pasco County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies arrested 61-year-old Roy Dean Roma on three counts of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer.

When deputies arrived at the home on the 28000 block of Lindenhurst Drive, they say they saw Roma in the window and asked if they could come to the door.

But when Roma came to the door, deputies say he was holding a silver semi-automatic pistol and pointed the barrel of the gun at  the deputies-- telling them to get off of his property and to show him a badge.

Roma took the gun and went back into the house, beginning a stand off between himself and deputies.

According to the arrest report, Roma took aim at one of the deputies from a hiding place inside the garage, while demanding to see a badge.

During the standoff, Roma called 9-1-1 and told dispatch he would put a hole in the deputies if they did not leave the property.

Finally, deputies were about to make contact with Roma again in his doorway, where they tazed him and placed him under arrest.
