Suspect steals cash from customer at Walmart

- A man seen on surveillance video at Walmart in Largo is wanted for stealing money from a man who just cashed a check.

It happened just before 5 p.m. Tuesday at Walmart at 2677 Roosevelt Blvd. in Largo.

Police say the suspect loitered behind a man at the check-cashing counter. Surveillance video shows the suspect around, talking on his cell phone.

As the victim was given his money, the suspect grabbed the cash and ran out of the store.

Surveillance video shows the suspect running from the store with a person following behind.

Shoppers we spoke with say they likely would have done the same thing the victim in the video did and chased after the thief.

“He got every right in the world to chase the guy from what I'm seeing,” said Tyrone Flakes. “If somebody took something from you wouldn't you chase them?”

What the video doesn't show is what played out once the two men made it into the parking lot.

The victim chased the subject outside of the store where the two got into a physical fight. The suspect ultimately fled in a white van.

The subject is described as a white male with a beard. He was wearing a dark-colored shirt and green pants.

Police said the subject was with a white female who left the store prior to the robbery. The female subject had blond hair and was wearing all black clothing.

Anyone with information about the identity of the suspect or his female companion is asked to contact the Largo Police Department.
