Sweet dog with broken leg found, shelter seeks owner

A young dog that's been through quite a lot is waiting to be reunited with his owner at Hillsborough County Animal Services. He was found wandering around in downtown Tampa after being hit by a car and has a fractured leg and road rash.

Rescuers have nicknamed the Labrador Retriever "Huck," and he appears to be 2-3 years old.

A microchip was found and attempts to contact his owners through the phone and by mailing his last known address in New Port Richey have gone unanswered so far. If his owner is not located, he will be put up for adoption.

Huck will need surgery for his broken leg which could cost upwards of $2,000, but the shelter hopes they may be able to work with a vet to bring those costs down for whoever might adopt him. Right now, though, they're focused on finding his owner.

If you have any information about who his owner might be, contact Hillsborough County Animal Services right away.
