Tae Kwon Do instructor faces new charges of capital sexual battery

- Pinellas County investigators say a Tae Kwon Do instructor accused of molesting two little girls is now charged with capital sexual battery in connection with a third case.

Andrew Jin Kim, 23, of St. Petersburg was arrested on lewd and lascivious molestation charges last week, accused of molesting a 6 and 7-year-old girl at Oh's Tae Kwon Do in Seminole.

Detectives said Kim touched both victims inappropriately while they were undressed, then told the girls to keep it a secret. After he was arrested on Feb. 5, detectives said Kim admitted to the allegations.

Monday, investigators said the mother of an 8-year-old girl was contacted by one of the mothers of the first victims who shared a link to a news story regarding Kim's arrest. The woman spoke to her daughter and on Monday, came forward to deputies with new information.

Detectives said sometime last July or August 2015, Kim picked up the victim from school to transport her to Oh's Tae Kwon Do and while they were in the van, Kim forced the 8-year-old girl to engage in a sex act.

Detectives said the owner of the business had no knowledge of Kim's behavior. Kim was an instructor there from 2012 until August 2015 and was fired for being dishonest about work-related functions unrelated to the charges.

Detectives are renewing their call for anyone to come forward with information regarding inappropriate contact with Kim.

Anyone with information is urged to call Corporal Mark Kolenda with the Crimes Against Children's Unit at (727) 582-6200.
