TAMPA, Fla. (FOX 13) - A Tampa-based art student is making a name for herself with a photograph she took of a sandwich in her kitchen.
Domonique Hassell, 20, created a work of art that went viral online this week.
The sophomore art student took a picture of a sandwich that looks like it is floating above a plate. The layered ingredients are suspended in the air.
"It's just cool, I would say it's like magic in a way, because it does look like it's floating," said Hassell.
The photography assignment took time to complete, but Hassell said she had a vision and after class, headed straight to her fridge.
"I was trying to think of a food that had a bunch of layers to it, and then a sandwich has a bunch of layers -- that or lasagna, but lasagna would have been a lot more challenging," said Hassell.
Using yarn, the young photographer created a makeshift tower and used it to balance each ingredient. Hassell said she photo-shopped the yarn from the picture to make it look like a floating sandwich.
The behind-the-scenes and final pictures took Twitter by storm. By Friday night, Hassell's tweet has been liked and shared hundreds of thousands of times.
Might have gotten too excited about this project and whipped it out hours after class ended 🙇♂️🥪📸 pic.twitter.com/6mnNjWXkPg— dommi (@scorpio_mvmi) March 5, 2019
For an aspiring artist like Hassell, the positive feedback has made a big impact.
"The response made me more driven to create more," said Hassell.
The assignment hasn't been graded yet. Hassell said she will find out what she got Monday.
