A handcuffed suspect who managed to escape Hillsborough County sheriff’s deputies and Tampa police officers Wednesday morning turned himself in later that night. He was still in cuffs.

HCSO said 22-year-old Jesus Manuel Angulo-Ocacio turned himself in to the District One office.

It all started just after midnight Wednesday, when two men were pulled over by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office at Fowler Avenue and 22nd Street. Deputies said they saw marijuana in the car and a search of the suspects revealed 20 baggies of heroin.

The men did not speak English and, while waiting for a Spanish-speaking deputy, Angulo-Ocacio took off running.

Detectives were interviewing him, then taking him to the Orient Road Jail. He is charged with escape and possession of heroin, and could possibly face other charges.
