BRANDON, Fla. (FOX 13) - A teenager who was riding her skateboard Saturday and crashed into a vehicle has passed away from her injuries, deputies said.
Before 7 a.m., 17-year-old Sky Anna Marie Taylor was in a bicycle lane near South Gornto Lake Road and Providence Lakes Road. Hillsborough County deputies said she was heading to work at a nearby Publix when she was struck by a Volkswagen Passat driven. The 25-year-old driver was also head to work.
Officials said Taylor was wearing all dark clothing at the time of the accident. They said she was also riding on the “fog line,” which separates the bicycle lane from other travel lanes. Investigators said the driver didn’t see her.
Investigators said the driver called 911. Taylor was transported to Tampa General Hospital with life-threatening injuries. On Sunday, she passed away around 4 p.m., deputies said.
Taylor was a junior at Spoto High School, and crisis response counselors are scheduled to be at the Riverview school on Tuesday. There is no school on Monday.
