FHP: Three killed in Pasco crash involving golf cart

- The Florida Highway Patrol said three people were killed in a crash involving a golf cart early Saturday morning.

The incident happened around 2 a.m. on Monteverde Drive near Crossondra Lane in Spring Hill.

Troopers said a Jeep Cherokee, driven by 32-year-old Victor Valdez Jr., was traveling southbound on Monteverde Drive when it crashed into the back of a golf cart, which was also headed south.

Four people were on the golf cart at the time and three of them were pronounced deceased at the scene. Those victims have been identified as 48-year-old Robert Frederikson, 36-year-old Jennifer Boudreau and 28-year-old Leah Kurasz. The driver of the golf cart, 23-year-old Scott Wilson, was taken to the hospital with critical injuries.

Troopers said the roadway is unmarked and not well lit. The crash remains under investigation and charges are pending.
