Tampa police investigate after toddler fatally shot

- Tampa police are investigating the death of a toddler who was shot at an apartment complex Sunday afternoon.

Officers were called to the Clipper Bay Apartments on Lois Avenue shortly after 4 p.m. They arrived at the scene to find a 17-month-old child with a gunshot wound. 

Police said the the child died from the injury.

Family members are being interviewed by investigators. At this time, there is no word on how the the child was shot or by whom.

The victim hasn't been publicly identified. More details are expected to be released on Monday.
