Police say they are looking for the person who shot a man on North Thatcher Avenue Wednesday evening.

The victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition, according to the Tampa Police Department.

Police say the victim's girlfriend was driving when she called 911 to report her boyfriend had been shot. Police caught up with the victim and his girlfriend on West Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard, where they rendered first aid until rescue crews arrived.

Detectives are trying to identify the shooter. The victim could only describe the shooter as a black male in his mid to late 20s, wearing all black.

Police believed the suspect might still be at the location of the shooting and established a perimeter, but the suspect apparently got away.

Detectives are still trying to determine a motive for the shooting. Anyone with information should call Tampa police.
