The southbound lanes of I-75 have reopened following a serious crash involving two semi trucks early Tuesday morning.

The Florida Highway Patrol says the crash happened around 6 a.m. just south of River Road.

According to investigators, one of the semi trucks was trying to get back onto the road after being pulled over but the driver, 31-year-old Charles Tura, cut off another semi.

The driver of that truck, 51-year-old Alexander Vollmar, tried to swerve into another lane, but it was too close. The front right side of his truck collided with the rear of the other truck's trailer.

The impact caused Vollmar's engine compartment to catch fire, completely destroying the cab.

Only only minor injuries were reported.

Troopers said Tura was charged for improperly changing lanes.
