Tree falls onto car, misses driver by inches

- A Bay area man is lucky to be alive after a frightening freak accident on a local road overnight.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office says it happened on Lithia Pinecrest Road and Coconut Grove Place overnight.

A man said he heard a loud crack just before a large tree branch feel onto his car, missing him, only by inches, and bringing down several power lines in the area.

It caused severe damage to his vehicle, cracking the windshield entirely, busting the front grill and even flattening a front tire.

The driver reportedly refused to be transported to the hospital, but agreed to take himself to be checked out just in case.

Crews remained at the scene hours after the incident to repair the downed power lines.
