Truck involved in fatal hit-and-run found by troopers

- The Florida Highway Patrol has found a truck involved in a fatal hit-and-run accident earlier this month, according to a release.

Mckenzie Messick, 22, was found dead on the shoulder of U.S. Highway 98 in Lakeland on May 3. It was unclear what time the accident occurred.

The vehicle was located by authorities Monday afternoon after receiving a Crime Stoppers tip. The white 2004 Chevy pickup was recovered at a home on Red Hawk Lane in Plant City.

Troopers say the investigation remains active as they are still searching for the driver of the truck.
