$20,000 reward offered for suspect's arrest in 'execution style' robbery

PALMETTO (FOX 13) - Two convenience store clerks are dead after an "execution style" robbery Monday afternoon in Manatee County. 

Police say the clerks were brothers and were found by a customer at Snappy's Mart along 17th Street W.  

Palmetto police identified the brothers as 23 year-old Khasem Yousef and 17 year-old Faares Yousef.

It took several officers to hold back family members who rushed to the scene.

"It appears to be a robbery. The individual goes into the store and the two employees were at the front counter of the store. He shoots them both," said Palmetto Police Chief Scott Tyler.

It happened in broad daylight, between 2:30 p.m. and 2:45 p.m. 

Police say the suspect, later identified as 25-year-old Devin Chandler, was armed with a handgun and acted alone.  Chandler did not wear a mask or gloves.  He was in and out in minutes.

In addition to the $10,000 reward being offered by the victims' family, the Council on American-Islamic Relations in Florida is offering $10,000 for information that leads to Chandler's arrest.

"It's been a long standing business in the community and we're horrified this happened and we're going to do everything we can to bring this person to justice," said Chief Tyler on Monday.

Along with the victims' relatives, crowds of on-lookers shared in the heartbreak hanging over the scene.

"You could feel comfortable to come in their store. They laugh with you and tease with you, and everyone knew them," said Jackie Anderson, a regular customer at the store. "It is sad. It's really awful," she said.

The search continues for Chandler, who's now wanted for two counts of homicide and one count of armed robbery.

Detectives believe he's driving a blue, Chevy Impala model made between 2000 and 2005. He is considered armed and dangerous.
