Two dead in St. Pete murder-suicide

- Detectives say two people are dead following an hours-long standoff that began around 9 p.m. Wednesday.

Police and SWAT arrived at a home in the 3300 block of 21st Street N to talk with a man inside about a missing persons investigation. The man barricaded himself in, officers say, and refused to talk.

When authorities went inside early Thursday morning, they found two people dead in an apparent murder-suicide.

Police evacuated several nearby homes in the area for several hours as a precaution.

The investigation continues.
