A black 2012 Mazda CX9 driven by Melvalin Bryan of Winter Haven was traveling northbound when the Mazda crossed over the center median into the southbound lanes sideswiping a 2008 Black Lexus driven by Wilfredo Aponte Ortiz of Orlando.

The Mazda then continued northbound striking a white 2007 Hyundai Elantra driven by Eric Frazier of Winter Haven.  He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Hyundai crossed into the path of a white 2015 Toyota Camry driven by Shannon Brown of Haines City.

The Toyota struck the right rear corner causing it to drive under the Hyundai.

The Hyundai came to rest on top of the Toyota.

A total of five children and two adults were transported to local hospitals.

Nine-year old Kemarion Hunter was a passenger in the black Mazda.  He died at Arnold Palmer Hospital in Orlando.

"I lost a 17-year-old son in 2007 in a car accident, I know what the families are going through," said Ron Riner, who lives nearby.  "It's something a parent will never get over. It's been nine years since I lost mine.  I think about him every day."

"Not the prettiest of crashes at all anytime children are involved. In these instances it's hard for everyone," said Kevin Watler, with Polk County Fire Rescue.
