Two killed in US 19 crash in New Port Richey

- Two people died in a crash in New Port Richey Saturday night.

The incident happened around 11:30 p.m. in the northbound lanes of U.S. 19 near Palmetto Road. 

According to police, a motorcycle fatally struck a pedestrian who was attempting to cross U.S. 19. Investigators said the pedestrian was not in a crosswalk.

The motorcyclist was also killed in the collision. 

The northbound lanes of US 19 were shut down for some time following the accident.

The victims have not been publicly identified.
