TAMPA (FOX 13) - Two students haven been arrested after an hours-long lockdown at Chamberlain High School that started when police got word about a gun on campus.
According to police, officials at the school received a tip about the possible weapon. When police and school security confronted the student, they say they found an unloaded handgun in his bag, along with ammunition. The 19-year-old senior, later identified as Raeqwon McDonald, was arrested.
Police say they also arrested a 15-year-old freshman who was actually the one who brought the weapon to school.
Meanwhile, security locked down the school until it could be swept. The all-clear came around 12:30 p.m.
Both suspects face charges of possession of a firearm on school grounds as well as disruption of a school function.
