Police say a St. Pete mother found her teenage son and his girlfriend dead inside her garage this morning.

According to police, the 17-year-old boy and 14-year-old girl were found in the Country Club Villas off Corrine Court South around 8 a.m.  Both teens were seated in the family's SUV, which was inside the detached garage with the garage door closed.

The mother reported that her son, Dorian Gomez Poehlmann, had left their home at about 3 p.m. Sunday to pick-up his girlfriend, Emily Sabow, but she did not know that they had driven back to the garage.

Dorian's mother called his cell phone several times throughout the evening, but when he did not answer, she reported them missing to police around 11 p.m.

Homicide detectives are investigating, but police say preliminary indications are that the teens had decided to sit in the car sometime last night, leaving the car running and, at some point, closed the garage door.  During that time, they were apparently overcome by the fumes and passed out.

Both were students at East Bay High in Riverview.

"At this point, all indications are that the deaths were strictly accidental in nature," a police spokesman added.
