Video shows driver running same red light twice

A Clearwater driver will be getting two red-light citations in the mail in what police are calling a "buy one, get special."

According to Clearwater police, video taken by red light cameras along Gulf to Bay Boulevard last month shows a driver blowing through a red light at Belcher Road.  Eight minutes later, they say, footage taken from the opposite side of the intersection shows the same white car speeding through the red light again, going the other way.

"Something you don't see every day, thankfully," a city spokesperson offered.  "We might refer to this one as the BOGO special -- two citations for one driver within a matter of minutes."

That driver will likely be facing over $300 in fines; each citation carries a $158 statutory penalty.  But perhaps he or she can at least save a few cents and put both payments in the same envelope.
