Surveillance video has been released, showing a man's shooting rampage after he was evicted from his apartment. He was later shot after exchanging fire with a deputy.

The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office said Sgt. Matt McLane fatally shot Larry Hoad Tuesday afternoon after Hoad fired at McLane and hit his cruiser.

Earlier that day, deputies went to help evict Larry Hoad from his apartment on 47th Way N in Lealman. They were later called back when Hoad allegedly began firing a gun at his neighbors. One of those neighbors had a home surveillance system installed, they said because of past run-ins with Hoad, and video shows him firing at a door, then into some windows.

Deputies confronted Hoad, who was armed with a handgun and a rifle. Sgt. McLane said he saw the handgun and the rifle and told Hoad to drop his weapons. Instead, Hoad fired at Sgt. McLane, hitting the side of his cruiser.

The sheriff's office said. Sgt. McLane fired back, hitting Hoad in the torso and in the arm.

A neighbor hit by Hoad's gunfire suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was taken to Bayfront Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

Hoad was taken to the hospital and was in critical condition.
