WATCH: Bystanders stop traffic as gator crosses road

- Traffic along a road in Sun City Center was at a complete standstill while an alligator slowly made its way to a pond across the street.

Several people with golf carts blocked the oncoming cars, Diane Jones told FOX 13. It happened in a community called "Kings Point."

Jones said the gator was sunbathing and didn't make a move for quite a bit, then decided to get up and go.

Video shows the gator very slowly crossing the road while bystanders capture the adventure on video. "Got traffic stopped?" someone is heard asking. "Yep," said another.

"Come on, keep going, don't stop in the middle of the road," someone is heard saying.

Eventually the gator made it to the pond safely and traffic continued as usual.
