Winds tear roof from Lakeland home

- Strong winds tore the roof from a mobile home in Lakeland this afternoon.

The home on Spencer Place -- just east of Lake Parker -- suffered damage around 3 p.m.  The view from SkyFOX showed large pieces of debris around the home, while several people were working to gather up the mess and assess the damage.

Two teenagers, and a number of pets were inside at the time, Polk County Fire Rescue said.  There were no reports of injuries.

The Red Cross said they were helping at least one family find a place to stay for the night.
