Woman arrested during court for Facebook photos

- A woman charged with DUI manslaughter was arrested – on the spot – during a court appearance Wednesday.

Investigators say Karen Juarez was driving drunk on a day in January of 2015, when she lost control of her vehicle and hit a concrete barrier, flipping the car several times. Her passenger, 24-year-old Kandace Michelle Tapia later died from her injuries.

Juarez was allowed bond on the condition she would stay away from bars and drinking.

During court Wednesday, prosecutors dropped a bombshell. Facebook photos shown to a judge, prosecutors say, show Juarez drinking and partying at bars after being placed on probation.

FOX 13 News legal analyst Alan Rickman said the photos could haunt Juarez for the rest of her life.

"The state could still use them at a sentencing hearing to show; while this charge was pending she shouldn’t be out drinking at Gasparilla. She should be out doing AA classes," Rickman said.

After seeing the photos, the judge ordered Juarez be arrested for violating the terms of her probation.

Juarez will stay in jail until her case is resolved, which means her party days may be over for good.
