Woman carjacked in Winter Haven Walgreens parking lot

- Police have arrested two people and are searching for a third in the armed carjacking of a woman outside a Walgreens in Winter Haven.

It happened just after midnight March 1. Police said Sandra Hunter, 50, was sitting in her car outside the Walgreens texting her son when surveillance video shows a suspect in a hooded sweatshirt pacing back and forth.

After a couple of minutes, the suspect is seen on video approaching the vehicle and Hunter told police she was facing the barrel of a gun being pointed at her.

Police said the suspect demanded she get out of the vehicle and leave her cell phone and purse in the car. As she got out of the car, the suspect placed Hunter on the ground and told her to stay there while he got into the vehicle. Video shows a second suspect running toward the passenger side and getting into the car as the car pulls away.

Police said the two suspects, identified as 19-year-old John Martin Crist and 18-year-old William Bradley Summerlin, picked up a 16-year-old girl who was reported missing as a runaway in February, before fleeing toward Jacksonville.

Four hours after the carjacking, a Florida Highway Patrol trooper spotted the vehicle going about 108 miles an hour on I-95 near St. Augustine. When the officer tried to get the car to pull over, the driver crashed the car into a median and all three fled on foot.

The 16-year-old girl and Crist were apprehended nearby and a revolver was recovered in the vehicle. Authorities are still searching for Summerlin who is considered "extremely dangerous." During an interview, the girl told detectives the group was planning to steal a car and go to Jacksonville to "hit a lick" (commit a robbery.)

Anyone with information on Summerlin's whereabout is urged to call Heartland Crime Stoppers at 1-800-226-TIPS (8477). Callers can remain anonymous and could be eligible for a CASH reward of up to $3,000.
