A woman and her two daughters were taken to the hospital after being bitten by their family dog in Safety Harbor.

Deputies say the woman, 45, and her two daughters were living with three pit bulls. One of the dogs, a male named "Buster," was known to be aggressive, deputies say, and was kept in a separate room.

Deputies say Buster got loose and began to attack the other dogs at the home on West Gate Drive.

The mother and her daughters, ages 22 and 14, were bitten several times when they tried to intervene. One of the daughters stabbed the dog while trying to help her mother.

The dog was killed.

The women and teen were injured and taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
