WESLEY CHAPEL (FOX 13) - Memories from 18 years of marriage hang on a tree in Gail Sowell's home.
"This is a picture of us when we were in Hawaii on our honeymoon and we were dressed alike," said Gail.
But she's not celebrating Christmas; she's honoring the man taken from her life much too soon.
"He was a great husband, a great father and we just had great times together," said Gail.
This is Gail's first Valentine's Day without her husband, Robert. He died suddenly from natural causes in June of 2015.
"He always made Valentine's Day so special for me. These are some of the things that he's given to me over the years," explained Gail.
It's only been eight months that Gail has been without her husband, and her daughters without their dad, but she has faith that her family will be okay.
"He told me one day, if he died before me, he wouldn't worry about me. Because he knew that I could take care of myself, and I could take care of these kids," said Gail.
So she takes care of her two daughters by celebrating their father's life instead of mourning his death.
"Looking at this tree and seeing all the love that's on this tree- it fills my heart with love," said Gail.
It even brings back memories of her husband that make her laugh and help her heal.
"My husband used to tell me that I was a hoarder because I kept a lot of things. But I guess it was a part of God's plan because now look what I'm doing with them," said Gail.
Gail knows that there are people who are just like her and mourning this Valentine's Day, and she hopes her tree will fill their broken heart with love too.
