Woman in wheelchair hit, killed by tow truck

- St. Petersburg police said a wheelchair-bound woman was hit and killed Monday morning.

The crash happened shortly before 6 a.m. at 5th Avenue North and 34th Street North.

According to investigators, the woman began crossing 34th Street North just before the traffic light turned green. 

A tow truck driver had been waiting at the light and began to drive through the intersection. That's when the woman was hit and run over by the tow truck.

The victim hasn't been identified. Police said the crash remains under investigation.
