Woman killed in St. Pete hit-and-run crash

St. Pete police are looking for a driver who hit a woman and left her to die in the middle of the road.

It happened at about 1:30 this morning on 18th Avenue S and 18th Street South.  Police say Lisa Lee, 47, died at the hospital.

St. Pete police spokeswoman Sandra Bentil says Lee was not using a crosswalk.

"That time of night is not a really heavy traffic time," Bentil said. "We just implore for people to use caution, you never know where anyone is crossing."

Officers don't have a lot to go on but they do say the vehicle that hit her was a white sedan.

Investigators are looking for information from anyone who may have been in the area or anyone who knows anything about the crash.  Witnesses are asked to contact the St. Petersburg Police Department at 727-893-7780 with tips.
