Young father killed on his birthday by alleged DUI driver

- A father's story of heartbreak is all that's left after his son was hit by a suspected drunk driver while riding his motorcycle on Dale Mabry Highway.

It happened Wednesday, March 9 - Daniel Nau's 26 birthday.

Since that day Daniel's father, Keith Nau, has worn black tape over a patch on his jacket. Whether they were riding motorcycles together, or singing together at a tiki bar in Seffner, Keith and his son epitomized the phrase 'like father, like son.'

"His dream was to join the motorcycle club I'm in and ride with me, side-by-side, with his colors on," Keith Nau said. "I'm happy to say we got to do it before he left this earth."

Daniel was also a father to a 3-year-old named Liam.

"My children are supposed to bury me. I'm not supposed to bury my children. My son was take way too early," Keith said.

Daniel's friends are also heartbroken by the loss of the man they say always cheered them up.

"He literally walks in giving everyone a hug. His big smile, just always laughing, just a very happy guy," said his friend Alina Clark. "He's one of the guys you'll never forget," she said.

Daniel Nau was hit by Jermaine Buie who was charged with DUI manslaughter.
