Michigan Powerball winner quits factory job after hitting it big

It didn't quite set in, however. She got her meal and went back to the factory and asked her co-workers to verify what she believed.

Then, she quit.

She said she was at the job she called "nasty and dirty" for more than 20 years and said she quit automatically.

Now, she says she want buy some property in Michigan and take care of her 11 grandkids.

"I'm going to take care of my kids. I don't want them to work the way I had to work and deal with the things I had to deal with in life. I want to make it a good life for them and take care of them," she said.

Julie Leach won it big. So big, in fact, that she was able to tell her job she didn't need a raise and she wasn't coming back to work.

The 50-year-old woman was on a work break at McDonald's. She said she had been having a really bad night and was sitting in the drive-thru when she decided to check her numbers.

"I work the 3rd shift and about 6:30 at night, I stopped for a cup of coffee," Leach said about buying the ticket. Of course, it wasn't until later she could check it. "I was having a real bad night at work, I went to McDonald's for lunch. Thought may as well check my numbers and that's when I realized I was a winner. "

What about the lottery curse? It's a concern but one she thinks she can handle.

"That was the first thing I said to him (her boyfriend). I don't want to be that statistic and blow our money and be broke in a couple years," Leach said.
