Officer Chase is Granbury toddler's real-life hero

- A Granbury police officer was honored Tuesday for saving a 3-year-old boy’s life on a call he was never dispatched to.

The police department shared the story of Officer Chase Miller on its Facebook page. He was on duty a few days ago when a 911 operator dispatched paramedics to the little boy’s location.

3-year-old Brayden Geis was having a seizure due to a 106-degree temperature. His parents were frantic because he had stopped breathing and was unresponsive.

“When he started having a seizure, I panicked,” Bethany, Brayden’s mom said. “I'm CPR certified. But at the moment, it just went over me."

Officer Miller realized he was near the home and decided to help. His dash camera captured him jumping into action to perform CPR and ultimately revive the boy.

“He had an elevated pulse. His heart was beating but no breath whatsoever,” Miller recalled. “His lips were bright blue, and I began chest compressions."

Miller, who has only been on the force for two years, was presented with a lifesaving award at the Granbury City Council meeting Tuesday night.

“I never dreamed of making a difference by saving a life,” Miller admitted. “I'm thankful, blessed and very relieved to know he's up and at 'em.”

“A lot of people are saying you are a hero. What do you say,” FOX 4 Reporter James Rose asked Miller.

“I say I’m a police officer,” he replied. “I’m just doing my job.”

Coincidentally, Brayden’s favorite show is Paw Patrol. His favorite character on the show is a first responder dog named Chase. Brayden was presented with a special Chase Paw Patrol plush doll from his real-life hero, Chase.
