Out-of-control truck mows down light poles on WI interstate

GLENDALE, Wis. - A video released by the Milwaukee Department of Transportation shows a suspected drunk driver mowing down light poles on a busy highway.

The video shows a pickup truck in the inside lane of an 8-lane roadway veering toward the median and climbing on top of the highway’s dividing wall.

The incident happened last Friday, May 4 on Interstate 43 near Milwaukee in Glendale, Wisconsin.

Despite being almost on its side, the truck continues moving forward and begins hitting light poles lining the median.

Drivers on the other side tried to swerve out of the way as the poles flew toward them. Six cars were hit by debris, but it appears the drivers were able to avoid a direct impact. No one was seriously injured.

Authorities arrested the driver after administering a field sobriety test.
