Robbery suspect leads police on chase through Whittier

- A robbery suspect in a pickup truck led police on an approximately 35-minute chase through Whittier, Industry and Hacienda Heights on Wednesday before he finally stopped and surrendered.

The chase began about 6:15 p.m. when the pickup truck ran a red light on Workman Mill Road. It ended about 6:50 p.m. near the intersection of Pickering Avenue and Mar Vista Street in Whittier, where the man stopped and surrendered.

During the pursuit, a passenger was let out of the white pickup, which at times sped dangerously on city streets. That individual was taken into custody.

At one point the suspect drove through a gas station car wash.
