“I’m proud to endorse Donald J. Trump for president,” Palin said in a statement from the Trump campaign provided to the New York Times.

The former vice presidential candidate’s endorsement is the most high-profile endorsement to date of Trump.

“I am greatly honored to receive Sarah’s endorsement,” Trump said in a statement given to the Times. “She is a friend, and a high-quality person whom I have great respect for. I am proud to have her support.”

Palin was slated to appear with Trump at a rally on the Iowa State University campus in Ames, Iowa on Tuesday evening. The Iowa caucuses are 13 days away.
