Sand sculpture honors fallen Dallas PD officers

- A sand sculptor created an amazing tribute to the fallen Dallas police officers.

Artist Joaquin Cortez spent nearly two weeks creating the sand sculpture, which includes a bald eagle, the Dallas Police Department seal, and the names of the officers.

Cortez built the sculpture outside a pharmacy in Mansfield, Texas. He said he and the owner of the pharmacy wanted to do their part to honor the officers.

“I’m also working on my craft. I started this two years ago. I'm learning as I go. It's kind of like putting a puzzle together" Cortez explained.

Last month's attack left five officers dead and nine others injured. It happened following a peaceful protest against the police killings of two black men in Louisiana and Minnesota.
