Semi crash left trailer dangling on Texas overpass

- The cab of a big rig fell off a Texas overpass, critically injuring the driver.

The crash occurred in North Richland Hills on Sunday night. Police said the tractor-trailer was traveling westbound lanes of Loop 820 TEXpress, when, for unknown reasons, the driver hit the wall on the other side of the overpass. The cab crashed through the wall and fell.

The trailer remained on the top of the overpass for several hours until wreckers could pry it away. Jars of Miracle Whip exploded from the impact and plastered along the lanes below the overpass. Bowls of the mac and cheese were scattered after busting out of their cardboard boxes.

The local fire department’s heavy-duty rescue team had to free the driver from the wreckage. He was taken by air ambulance to a local hospital in critical condition. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
